Action List
How to fix your entire life in 1 day
Brief actions and self-reflective questions distilled from Dan Koe’s X article.
Do this
- Stop setting surface goals. Ask: Who must I become?
- Design the lifestyle first. Ask: What daily life creates this result?
- Trust behavior over words. Ask: What do my actions prove I want?
- Find the hidden payoff. Ask: What do I gain by staying stuck?
- Name the old identity. Ask: “I am the type of person who…” what?
- Spot the fear. Ask: What would changing cost me socially?
- Write the anti-vision. Describe the life you refuse to keep living.
- Write the vision. Describe your ideal average Tuesday in three years.
- Compress both. One sentence for refusal; one for direction.
- Use disgust as direction. Ask: What standard am I done tolerating?
- Interrupt autopilot. Set reminders with questions that force honesty.
- Audit your complaints. List the three complaints you repeat most.
- Translate complaints into desire. Ask: What do I privately want?
- Catch identity protection. Ask: What did I do to protect my self-image?
- Track aliveness. Ask: When did I feel most alive or most dead?
- Name the enemy. Identify the internal pattern running the show.
- Create a one-year lens. Pick one proof the old pattern broke.
- Create a one-month project. Choose the project that keeps that proof possible.
- Choose daily levers. Timeblock two or three needle-moving actions tomorrow.
- Set constraints. Decide what you will not sacrifice.
- Turn life into a game. Vision wins; anti-vision sets stakes; actions become quests.
- Iterate intelligently. Act, sense feedback, compare, adjust, repeat.
- Reject the default path. Ask: Which inherited belief needs questioning?
- Enter the unknown deliberately. Run experiments before demanding clarity.
- Move immediately. Ask: What would tomorrow’s smallest future-self action be?
One-day protocol
- Morning: Write your complaints, anti-vision, vision, and identity statement.
- Daytime: Use phone reminders to interrupt avoidance and autopilot.
- Evening: Name the pattern, define the direction, and timeblock tomorrow.
